3D Printed Hollow Form Object

Final Form This project was chill, there was a lot of time to get stuff done so I pushed it aside for a bit.  Me and my partner combined these 3 concepts into one | \/   The concept sketch we chose         The final concept (ready to print)  a.)    Function  - how does this object function?  Is it successful in doing so? It functions as a basket, holding vertical beams (like stems) inside. Yes I'd say it is successful if you look at it as an observer.   b.)  Form  - what are the aesthetic qualities of this object? The basket makes it kind of look like combining manmade with nature   c.)  Self-supporting  - is this object self-supporting?  Will it print without support material? Id say so, it doesn't have any scary slopes    d.)  3D Printability  - Is this 3D model water tight and ready to print?  What is its likelihood for success in printing?   85%??? (Aft...

Hollow Form Concept Generation

(This was already done a week ago but I forgot to post it) I wanted to make mine more organic, taking inspiration from sticks, vines, rocks etc.  Twig Basket Thing Vines Rocks More Twigs Mushrooms Beanstalk

Final Coaster (i think its done)

Final Laser Final Setup When I checked the bookings, the only times available were when I had classes, so I booked on Thursday. My process was to paint the individual pieces one by one so it wouldn’t interfere with the others during painting. (I forgot to take a picture of the pieces oops) But painting was quite simple, mixing complementary colours enhanced the coaster overall. I wanted to give it a weathered, antique look. Many of the little pieces I had originally on the moon were left out, it looked better with a bit more simplicity. The sun is more complex than the moon; I wanted to contrast the tranquility of night with the busyness of day.  I’ll probably update this post with more photos. After glueing, I realized I missed the opportunity to make it spin, now I’m mad that it could’ve been more.

Laser Cut Coaster Refinement (and additions(?))

I roughly overlayed them with what I am going to paint over it (the finished product's obviously going to become more detailed): | \/ | \/ I tried to capture the balance between sun and moon, using the outer spikes as both part of the sun and moon, as well as the inner outline. Uhh I don't think I have time to create another 3D aspect for unity between the two but I'll try to do something to create it. I will use a wood material for the base, creating a sort of DIY look as I took inspiration from those cardboard cutouts of suns and moons. The painting will also have a worn antique look. I really like those theologian depictions of sun and moon in various works. I will try to create a sense of storytelling as I had intended. My reasons for cutting out the nose and sclera on the sun was due to prominence and...the cup would've been more likely to topple over if I had protruded only the nose and eyes. For the moon, I used the eye and cloud to balance the cup, it would wo...

Final Castle Project

This is really late... I got sick sorry. The castle is inspired by medieval architecture. I wanted to make it seem worn with overgrowth, and incorporated elements I used for my cottage onto this miniature castle, specifically the stone bricks and the trees. Close up of materials I really wanted to use more 3D objects for the ground such as more trees, rocks, shrubs and a river etc., but I wanted to hand this in as soon as possible, and it was getting really laggy. (I also wanted to add more 3D bricks to the roof tower part of the castle)   Shade form The three materials I used were stone, glass and moss. I thought about incorporating wood but decided not to to create a more sturdy-like structure. (I only did for the bark) For lighting, I opted for a "dark orange" - too light would mean too bright. Combining complementary colours like orange and blue enhanced the lighting even further (I purposefully put less blue as too much would overpower the orange) My challenge was trying...
